December 2011 ; Work is begun on the new home for LORD AYYAPPA .
This project was funded by the Sri lankan Tamils who did most of the hard work.
The rush was on to make it presentable by mid January 2012

15th January, and although the decorations are still not ready - it's all go for the Pongal festival

After ritually purifying the building the first puja to Lord Ayyappa in Central Queensland was celebrated

Feb 15th - Another wall is decorated.....2 more to go!

HANUMANJI  has a new Home!
Begun in September 2011 the shine to Hanuman took several months to complete owing to the unusual nature of the project. Only a few rocks could be laid at one time then the cement had to harden so that more could be added. The rocks had to carried manually a distance of 100 metres.
The 60 panels to decorate the ornate interior had to be individually cast then one fixed they had to be painted. A very trying task in such an enclosed space under the hot sun.

Once the garden was laid out and the grass established, the little cave awaited it's occupant.
Over 100 people attended the elaborate ceremonies on Jan 21st 2012 which included a ' Hanuman Chalisa'  and  a havan fire ceremony.

There is only room for one worshipper at a time to enter the space

If you can do it then why not?

Why build a temple? Well if one has some skills and a vision as well as the opportunity to do something then it is wrong not to do it!

About Me

My photo
I was born in Sydney and moved to Sth Africa in 1966 where I stayed for the next ten years. Living under a racist regime made me realise that one need not tolerate intolerance. I returned to Ausralia in 1976 after catching polio in Morocco. Later I spent roughly a decade teaching and travelling aroung Indonesia, spending most of my time in Padang. After five years in Singapore I returned to OZ following the death of my Mother who left me a modest house and a huge debt. Now I live with my partner in an old house which we had transported to the 4 acre site near mt Morgan in central Queensland.
